The operation of shopping which sell second-hand (used items) has been in its target TIME.
The issue was addressed by a recent meeting of the President of the Athens Chamber of Commerce Thanos Tsangaris and members of the Board of Directors, with the Governor of DIMA, Charalambos Melissenos and the responsible directors. The representatives of the SAA emphasized the growing presence of shops that sell second-hand and expressed concern about the consequences of their constant spread on the market.
As noted, it may lead to unfair competition, endangering small and medium -sized enterprises that operate under the rules and applicable provisions.
Mr Tsangaris expressed his concern about this category of stores because, as he said, they often sell in addition to used items and products falsified or imitation products, commonly called “monkey”, do not have the necessary licenses, do not comply with health regulations, and do not abide by the health regulations, areas.
Particular emphasis was also placed on the health rules they must adhere to.
He announced that he was informed by the Association by the Mayor of Athens Haris Doukas and the Deputy Mayor Thomas Georgiadis, in order to examine whether these stores have received the relevant start permit before their operation.
Following this meeting, as well as in its institutional role, the TIMA has proceeded with thorough controls and monitors the issue to ensure proper market function and consumer protection.
As commented by DIMEA executives in RES-EIA, a large number of this category of stores have already been checked, and checks are continuous throughout the country.
