Next spring Completed and delivered to the traffic and the second section of the highway E65 that will directly connect the Athens with the areas of Western Macedonia but also Egnatia.

The E65 is 182.1 km long and is one of the most important national projects, with a total budget of approximately € 1.4bn. It has the necessary capacity, a modern two (2) lanes per direction plus emergency lane and is completely constructed in new engraving by connecting Eastern to Western Greece.

With the delivery of the new E65 sections in April 2024, there is 136 km of modern, safe motorway, from PC with the SA motorway. (206.5 km) to Kalambakas A/C. Significant tourist destinations such as Meteora, Lake Plastira, Karpenissi, Trikala are now accessible, quickly, easily and safely, while a new development dynamic will be given to the country’s trunk.

Under the construction of the TERNA Department, the last 46 km of the highway, in the northern part, starting with the Kalambakas A/C and will reach the Egnatia Road west of Grevena. For their construction there are (two) 2 central and (two) 2 supporters with 780 personnel and 440 project machines and trucks.

The progress of the work was inspected a few days ago by Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas, who in his statements stressed that “the project is going on at a very good pace and some issues that had arisen were addressed. The Archaeological Service has completed the excavations and delivered them a few days ago, so we are optimistic that the timetable will be adhered to – of course – and the second quarter of 2026 will be surrendered. It is an extremely important highway that serves Central Greece, Thessaly, Western Macedonia, as well as many other areas, enhancing road safety, drastically reducing travel times and offering new opportunities to the local economy, tourism and daily life of citizens. “
