The Prime Minister went to the Ministry of Health and then in the Evangelismos and the Emergency Department of the Hospital. In the Emergency Department of the Annunciation, he was informed by the Hospital Governor and the doctors of the implementation of the Pilot Tracation of Incidents in the ICT and talked with workers and patients.
THE Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his visit to Health ministry He announced that a telephone number, 1566, will operate by July 15, for any questions about the health system. Calls will be free and will support the rest of the communication channels.
“It will be another important help to citizens so that they can get answers to difficult and complex problems,” the prime minister said.
He said that his visit to the Ministry of Health was held in the framework of regular meetings “to overview the progress of the New Routing Plan YOU as we were committed. “
He noted that many and serious things are being done on many fronts, referring to the timely completion of all programs funded by the recovery fund, the progress in cost management and how to use new digital tools to control medical and pharmaceutical expenditure.
“We have said that any resource savings will come back,” he said, saying that there is a real revolution in digital health.
In particular, he described the digital dossier patient as a pioneering application at European level and also spoke of changes in on -call.
“The effort is to improve the waiting times and the patient’s experience in on -call. I express my satisfaction that the waiting lists of surgeries have begun to decline, ”he continued, while pleased and excited said to the fact that the preventive programs have led our 2.5 million fellow citizens to have a preventive examination.
“Many were saved and found malignancy because the state found them and urged them to examine. Don’t ignore the message you get, “he said.
Mr Mitsotakis made a special mention of mental health issues, especially children and adolescents for whom he said they are a more sensitized conquest and speak more easily.
The prime minister stressed that it was a challenge for the NHS to support and welcomed the work done by the Ministry of Health as a whole.
“We have a lot of work to do,” he said, stressing: “Undoubtedly the progress we have achieved is important.”

Mitsotakis’ statement after the meeting is completed:
“In the context of regular meetings with the leaderships of the ministries, I am once again at the Ministry of Health to make an overview of the progress of the new National Health System Routing Plan, as we had committed to Greek citizens in the 2023 elections.
I believe, Mr Minister, that together with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Health enjoys the closer, well -meaning, do not misunderstanding, monitoring by me personally and the presidency of the government. And I say this because there are really very important things in the Ministry of Health, on many different fronts, which ultimately affect the lives of all Greek citizens.
Let me also dwell on the great importance we attach to the timely completion of all programs funded by the Recovery Fund. Already the first renovations have begun and are delivered. We are talking about over 80 new emergency departments, 160 health centers, which we will have the opportunity to be able to visit in the immediate future.

I would also like to emphasize the very great progress that has been achieved in cost management, the dedication we have to comply with hospital budgets, as well as the way in which the new digital tools allow us to control medical, but mainly pharmaceutical expenditure.
We have said many times that any benefits, any resource savings, will return to the Ministry of Health’s portfolio and I believe that with the new tools that we will be able to put into operation very immediately, we will be able to achieve this goal we have set.
In the field of digital health a real revolution is taking place. We will have the opportunity to talk to them much more in detail in the coming days. However, the digital folder in his first version, the Myhealth App, is truly an innovative innovative European level, which essentially changes the way we manage information about each patient and enables us to be able to follow, in essence, the medical history of each Greek citizen. Combined with the significant progress we have made in terms of personal doctors, we are now making primary care in a completely different logic.
I want to make a special reference to on -calls, where we make a great effort to improve overall waiting times and the patient’s experience. We will soon have the opportunity to say a lot more about the initiative of tracing the patient’s course through the on -call procedure itself, a very important initiative.
I would like to express my satisfaction with the fact that waiting lists have begun and decreasing in the surgeries. They have already reduced by 20,000, always focusing on our fellow citizens who have been waiting for years to have a scheduled surgery.
And I want, finally, to express my very satisfaction, I dare say my emotion, about the fact that the preventive programs, the program “catch up” in its different manifestations, has led us to have a preventive examination of 2.5 million fellow citizens.
Many of our fellow citizens were literally saved. This is not a form of reason. They identified all kinds of diseases and malignancies through a preventive examination they did because the Greek state went and found them and urged them to do a preventive examination.

So on this occasion I want to reiterate how important it is not to ignore and ignore those who hear us, this message you get in the context of the many preventive exams that Greek citizens can now do.
Finally, I want to make a special mention and there will be, Mr Minister, a distinct debate on mental health issues. Especially the mental health of children, adolescents, our young people.
We are now living in a time when our young people are more aware of mental health issues. And this is a conquest because they have broken a taboo of the past and are more easily talked about possible problems.
However, this also increases the obligation to be able to respond to this increased pressure on mental health services. And I would say that, let’s say, psychiatric reform, but our overall mental health interventions will be a new big, I believe, national goal for the national health system, as we are in the face of one, dare to say, an epidemic that has global characteristics. It is about children, adolescents, young people, to some extent to do with the use of mobile phones and social media.
However, our obligation is to be able to provide every new one, to every news that seeks some kind of mental health support, the ability to have this support through the National Health System. It is a new big challenge for which we will discuss in more detail in one of our next meetings.
To close by expressing my personal satisfaction with the work that is being done in the Ministry of Health as a whole. Day by day we win this big bet. We still have a lot of work to do, but undoubtedly the progress we have achieved is remarkable.
And the minister reminded me that it was an opportunity to declare that in the next two months, July 15, a telephone number, the “1566”, would now be operating for any questions any about the health system: appointments, prescriptions, medicine costs, no medical tips, no medical advice.
But “1566” will be the new number that will come to support the other communication channels we have. The Myhealth App, already in terms of EOPYY doctors’ appointments, works very well, but there are many of our fellow citizens who still prefer to call a free phone number to which they can answer any questions about the health system.
So “1566”, according to the minister, will be operational in July, and I think it will be another important aid that we will provide to citizens so that they can get the answers to difficult and complex questions they may have. “
Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis, for his part, noted: “We have presented the program of the Reconstruction Fund with the renovations of hospitals and health centers, the” Prevent “program, which is going very well, our plan for the on -call, which is evolving. We talked about the psychiatric reform and the great concerns in this field that Greek society has and presented our plans and the entire digital upgrading program of the Ministry of Health with the National Electronic Health File and the advanced electronic prescription systems in Greece.
We are very proud, Mr President, for what we have achieved this time and with great appetite we continue and thank you for your wholehearted support. “
