The road to parliamentary ratification was received by two important texts related to the strengthening of the international athletic Greece’s cooperation: The Protocol of Sports Cooperation with Turkey and the Agreement on Sports with Saudi Arabia. Both texts were submitted to Parliament, marking a step towards further strengthening relationships through sport.
Greek -Turkish Protocol: Focus on Olympic Truce and Good Neighborhood
The Protocol of Sports Cooperation between the Hellenic Republic and the Republic of Turkey, signed in Athens on December 7, 2023, aims to upgrade sports cooperation and promote good relations and friendship between the two countries.
According to the report, short -term goals include the co -ordination and support of proposals related to the Olympics and the Olympic Truce, the implementation of exchange programs for sports experts, officials and coaches, as well as the exchange of information in sports. In the long run, it seeks to develop programs to combat pharmacoding and violence on the stadiums, balanced support for professional and amateur sport, enhancing women’s position in sports, developing sports tourism and jointly claiming international sports. In particular, the parties intend to cooperate for the revival of the Olympic Truce, the fight against the manipulation of racing and the encouragement of athletes and teams in both countries.
GREEK-SAIDABLE Agreement: Emphasis on know-how and good administration
At the same time, the agreement between Greece and the kingdom of Saudi Arabia was submitted for ratification for cooperation in sports, which was signed in Athens on July 26, 2022. The aim of this agreement is to encourage cooperation for the creation of sports executives, the training of specialized coaches, Sport, as well as the fight against doping.
The forms of cooperation foreseen include the exchange of coaching and technical experience, the cooperation of the Olympic Committees, the exchange of visits of national teams and clubs, the cooperation of sports and the treatment of doping, as well as common transparency initiatives in sports.
The deposition of these two texts for ratification emphasizes the Greek side’s intention to use sports as a bridge of friendship and cooperation, while promoting the development and extroversion of Greek sport.
