OR Hydra welcomed the American ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoylein a ceremony at historic City Hall of the island.
Ms Guilfoyle, who took up duties at the authorities November 2025 as the first female US ambassador to Greece, thus continuing the cycle of her first visits to the country.
During the visit, Mr mayor of Hydra awarded the ambassador the Medal of the Municipalitycommemorating the two Philhellenic Americans, William Washington and George Jarvisfor the contribution them in the Revolutionary action of the Hydraians. According to the mayor’s post, the close historical and cultural ties of Hydra with the USA.
The ambassador expressed him excitement her for her uniqueness of the island and stated that he intends to visit again soon.
