An official visit to Cyprus is being made by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Monti.
The Prime Minister’s Indian plane arrived shortly after 2pm at Larnaca Airport, where he was welcomed by the Cypriot president Nikos Christodoulides.
Among other things, Mr. Christodoulides spoke of a historical visit and strategic cooperation without limits.

It is worth noting that this is the first time Modi visits Cyprus, at a time when India aspires to strengthen its global presence and rearrange geopolitical balances.
“Significant impulse” in India-Cyprus relations, especially in areas such as trade, investment and others will give his visit to Cyprus, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Monti said on Sunday shortly after his arrival on the island.
In his post on X, which he also published in Greek, N. Monti expresses his gratitude to President Nikos Christodoulides “for his special gesture to welcome me to the airport”.
This visit will give a “significant impetus to India-Cyprus relations”, especially in areas such as trade, investment and others, he says.

The program of the visit
On June 15, the Cypriot president, along with Monti, will go to Limassol, where they will attend the Round Bank work with entrepreneurs from both countries. Then, the two leaders will attend an informal work dinner.
On Monday, June 16th, the Prime Minister of India will be a formal reception at the Presidential Palace and will subsequently have a meeting with President Christodoulides, who will make him the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III.
Expanded talks between the delegations of the two countries will follow, and then the two leaders will make statements to the media.
The talks will discuss, among other things, issues related to bilateral relationships and ways of further strengthening them, especially in the areas of economy, trade, infrastructure and investment. EU-India relations will also be discussed, issues concerning the East-Europe-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), the situation in the Middle East and South Asia and the latest developments in the Cyprus issue.
Later, the two leaders will go to the Nicosia Town Hall from which they will tour along the ceasefire line.
Subsequently, the Cypriot president will have a formal lunch in honor of the Prime Minister of India at the Presidential Palace, and shortly afterwards Mr Monti will depart from Cyprus.
