The President of Egypt, Abdel Fatah al-Sisi will welcome Wednesday morning to Maximus Palace Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The two leaders will meet at 11:20 at the Maximos Mansion, where after their conversation, the plenary session of the 1st Hellenic-Egypt Cooperation Council will follow. The Prime Minister and the President of Egypt will then make statements to the press. Earlier, at 11:00, Mr Sisi will meet with the President of the Republic, Konstantinos Tasoula, at the Presidential Palace.

The two leaders are expected to emit a message of upgrading already extremely close relations to a strategic partnership and strengthening of cooperation and coordination at the political level (regular consultation mechanism), commercial and investment relations, transport and infrastructure, in connectivity, Energy Security and Energy Security Climate change, defense and security, migration, education and culture, which is expected to be described in the joint statement expected by the two leaders.
Looking at international law to address the challenges and promote regional stability, in a context where the geopolitical landscape in the region is being reshaped, the visit of the President of Egypt and the joint statement of the two leaders are expected to emit a message of synonym.
At their meeting, the two leaders will discuss the latest regional developments in Gaza, Syria and Libya.
The previous meetings
Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ last meeting with the Egyptian president took place in Cairo in January 2025 on the sidelines of the Trilateral Greek-Cyprus-Egypt Summit.
Earlier, in March 2024, Kyriakos Mitsotakis had visited Cairo during a joint visit with European Commission President Ursula von der Laien and European leaders to sign the EU -Egypt strategic and partnership agreement. Greece has pioneered the conclusion of this agreement, advocating for the strategic importance of Egypt’s stability for Europe, as well as the importance of Cairo in the restraint of migratory flows to European countries.
In March 2024, after all, in a joint statement signed by the Greek Prime Minister and Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, their decision to set up the two countries’ Supreme Cooperation Council was reflected.
