A strong confrontation broke out in Parliament between the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Konstantinou Kyranakisand the Secretary General of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoubaon the occasion of Suburban accident in Patras and the train collision with IX.
Mr. Kiranakis asked Mr. Koutsoubas to transfer to Mayor Patras, Kostas Peletidis (derived from the KKE), the need to take measures for the Visibility in level crossings. Commenting on the video of the accident, Mr. Kyranakis argued that “it seems clear that this is a level crossing with an automatic system, where the bars and the photoshoot worked normally, and a car, for an unknown reason, has exceeded these closed bars, without a closed bars.”
The Deputy Minister cited a letter received by the Mayor of Patras five days before the accident from the driver’s association, which mentioned the need for the municipality’s intervention on visibility issues. He added that there are other points with improvised crossings created by citizens, posing a great risk. Mr Kyranakis recalled that he had sent a letter to all the mayors, including Mr Peletidis, regarding the measures to be taken to mark and protect the levels of crossings following the voting of the new coke.
He stressed that OSE has done his job at this point by placing automatic bar, photoshoot, sounding and cameras, and called on the Municipality of Patras to do his job for visibility, as drivers demand.
Koutsoubas: “They shift criminal political responsibilities elsewhere”
In response to Mr Kiranakis, the Secretary General of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoubas, accused the government of “They always postpone the great criminal political responsibilities for the state of the means of transport, especially the railwaysยป.
Mr Koutsoubas defended the Mayor of Patras, stating that Mr Peletidis has taken and will take measures for him, and that the people of Patras are highlighting the mayor of more than 60-65% for three consecutive four years. “You must be ashamed“, Mr. Koutsoubas said, stressing that government responsibilities are enormous and that there is always a mayor or a commander to transfer responsibilities.
In Mr Kyranakis’ response to why the Municipality of Patras has not yet done his job, Mr Koutsoubas described the minister as “Thrasy” and emphasized that “here is the House, you are the government and you tell us what actions, what money you do for the municipalities. The confrontation continued outside the microphone, with Mr. Koutsouba commenting: “We gave you value, you will play in the canals!”
