Heraklion: Schools in Vorizia and Zaros are closed after the massacre – For the safety of students and teachers

On the occasion of the shocking massacre that unfolded on Saturday morning (01.11.2025) in Vorizia Heraklion of Crete with over 2,000 shootings, two dead and dozens injured, schools in the area are locked down.

The Municipality of Phaistos, with a statement issued hours after the serious incident with the shootings in Vorizia, Heraklion, informs that next Monday (03.11.2025) and Tuesday (04.11.1015), the following schools will remain closed for precautionary reasons:

– Vorizion Kindergarten

– Vorizia Primary School

– Zarou Primary School

– Zarou High School

The decision was taken for reasons of prevention and safety of the students and the educational staff, following a relevant recommendation of the competent services, while there will be a newer update on the reopening of the school units.
