The thermometer and the fifth day of this week remains “nailed” to unbearable temperatures. According to the meteorological prognosis, the degrees of Celsius will stay at 40 Plus, with many areas being “baked” at 44.
The “icing” in this unbearable situation is that Greece is going through the most critical period of worsening of the pyrbetic conditions.
“The cumulative effect of the very warm and dry conditions in our country as early as Sunday, July 20, 2025, has led to a significant increase in the flammability of forest fuels, so that it is greatly facilitated by the start of fires, the development of large thermal loads, the rapid spread and the rapid spread of fire.” Kostas Lagouvardos, Meteorologist – Research Director at the National Observatory of Athens.
In detail the prognosis for Friday:
The temperature will be kept at very high levels across the country. The maximum prices will reach their continents 40 to 42 and 43 to 44 degrees Celsius.

Re -recommendations of Civil Protection
Recommendations are re -addressed to the citizens by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, so that they are particularly careful, ensuring that self -protection measures from high temperatures are resulting from self -protection measures.
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection (civilProtection.gov.gr) of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection has informed the relevant government agencies involved, as well as the regions and municipalities of the country, in order to be on increased political protection to address the immediate impact of high temperatures.
In areas where high temperatures are prevalent, the GAPP draws attention to people who belong to vulnerable groups to be particularly careful to avoid health problems, such as thermal exhaustion and heat stroke, which may be caused by the high temperatures that will prevail.
In particular, according to the self -protection guidelines from high temperatures, it is recommended for citizens:
– Stay in cool and shady areas, away from overcrowding, to use air conditioners or fans and avoid heavy physical work in areas with high temperature, apnea and high humidity.
– Avoid sunbathing, as well as walking or running under the sun and wear a hat and sunglasses and light -colored clothing that allows the skin to ventilate and facilitate evaporation of sweat, avoiding synthetic fabrics.
– Consume light meals with fruits and vegetables, limiting fat and quantity of food.
– Drink plenty of water and fruit juices, avoiding alcohol.
Particular care is recommended for babies and young children, as well as the elderly and sufferers from chronic diseases to protect them from high temperatures.

It is noted that according to the Extraordinary Bulletin of Dangerous Weather Phenomena (EDEKF) today issued by the National Weather Service (NMS), the temperature in our country will be at a very high level in the coming days. The heat is expected only in northwestern Greece on Sunday afternoon (27-07-25), and a gradual decline of very high temperatures is expected on Monday (28-7-2025) in most areas.
It is noted that:
A. Minimum temperatures will range at high levels (about 28 to 29 degrees Celsius mainly in urban centers).
B. From Friday (25-07-25) at noon and Saturday (26-07-25) in the east and mainly in the Aegean, reinforced northern winds of 6 to 7 beaufort will prevail.
Very high risk of fire on Friday in 11 regions
A very high risk of fire (risk category 4) is foreseen tomorrow in 11 regions of the country, in accordance with the fire prediction map issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection (civilProtection.gov.gr).
In particular, a very high risk of fire is foreseen tomorrow for the following areas:
* Ionian Islands Region
* Region of Western Greece
* Peloponnese Region (except for Messinia)
* Region of Central Greece (except Evritania)
* Region of Attica
* Region of Epirus (Ioannina IP, IP Preveza, IP Thesprotia)
* Region of Western Macedonia (IP Florina, Kastoria IP, IP Kozani)
* Region of Thessaly (Magnesia)
* Northern Aegean Region (IP Lesvos, IP Chios, PE Samos, PE Ikaria)
* South Aegean Region (Rhodes)
* Region of Crete
The GAPP has informed the competent authorities involved state agencies, as well as the regions and municipalities of the above areas, in order to be on increased civil protection readiness in order to immediately deal with any fires.
At the same time, it is recommended that citizens are very careful and to avoid actions in the countryside that can cause fire from negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning residues, using sparks such as disciplines, welding appliances, welding appliances.
Consequently, the 2nd stage of operational readiness of the PA is implemented. And air surveillance patrols will be carried out, as well as patrols by firefighters, police and military forces.
In addition, the personnel of the Fire Department of the above areas are partially alert to tackle the increased service requirements, which may occur due to very high risk of fire (category of danger 4).
At the same time, for these areas, the Civil Protection Actions Plan to address risks due to forest fires is implemented, according to which, inter alia, the implementation of the preventive prohibition of vehicle traffic and the stay of excursions in national parks, forests.
Fire department also appeals to citizens:
1. To be very careful and avoid actions in the countryside that can cause fire from negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning residues, using sparks such as saws, welding appliances, use of outdoor buns. It is also recalled that the burning of the fields are prohibited during the firefighting period.
2. Monitor the information on the prevention of forest fires available on the website and on the official Fire Brigade accounts, Facebook and Twitter.
3. In the event of a fire, they are kindly requested to notify the fire service immediately in the 199 call number 199.
Finally, it calls on all citizens to be very careful and in the event of a fire, for their own safety, to adhere strictly to the instructions of the competent authorities.
