“I have no reason to take responsibility for manipulations that do not belong to me,” said the deputy prime minister, among other things, Kostis Hatzidakis in his statement after a publication in which he spoke of his knowledge of the intention of the ELTA administration to close stores.
Specifically, Mr. Hatzidakis, responding to the “Newspaper of the Editors” which published a letter from the resigned CEO of ELTAGrigoris Sklikas to him dated October 10, emphasizes that the management of ELTA did not present a complete explanation of the problem and the data that prevails in support of the plan to close stores, without specifically identifying the stores.
As he states in his statement, he confirms the existence of a meeting on ELTA with the participation of ministers and also the existence of electronic mail. “I have undertaken the implementation of many critical reforms in the past. However, I have no reason to take responsibility for manipulations that are not my responsibility,” he clarifies.

“In order to stop the distortion of the truth, I note again that, as I stated from the beginning, we never denied that there was an information meeting on the matter in the presence of all the relevant ministers. I have also already publicly confirmed the existence of email correspondence, which as I noted, essentially repeated what was said at the meeting, without identifying specific stores. But, once again I declare that the ELTA administration did not proceed, based on the collective government direction, in the advance explanation of the problem, in the presentation of the data in Greece and abroad and in the timely analysis of the necessity for the solution chosen. An extremely crucial element in the whole case. This is the bottom line and we have nothing to hide.
I emphasize again:
– The government insists on the criticality of the problem and will work to implement a solution that will ensure the survival of ELTA.
– As far as I’m concerned, I’m not going to accept any targeting, but also no theory that I secretly gave orders to close shops.
