David is among the 49 hostages still held by Hamas during the attack on October 7, 2023, which claimed the lives of 1,219 people in Israel, most of whom were citizens. In retaliation, Israel launched a catastrophic attack on Gaza, which resulted in the death of more than 60,000 people.
