“It is a self-evident right of every state to conclude interstate agreements”
In immediate time and in an instantaneous manner came the answer of Athens to the threats of the representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that Greece acts exclusively on the basis of international law and has a self-evident right to conclude international agreements, such as the one with Ukraine. “Threats against sovereign states are automatically rejected”, underline diplomatic sources.
In particular, diplomatic sources state: “H Greece in its international relations it always acts based on adherence to international law and respect for states. It is a self-evident right of every state to conclude interstate agreements. Especially when the agreements, such as the one between Greece and Ukrainianguarantee the energy sufficiency and security that constitutes a condition of human well-being. Threats against sovereign states are automatically rejected.”
Earlier, the representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova had stated: “Greece is following a provocative, confrontational course towards Russia, taking openly unfriendly measures,” he said. “Athens was one of the first to send weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, which the Ukrainian armed forces use every day against civilians in Donbass, Zaporizhia, Kherson, Crimea and other southern regions of our country. And all this despite the fact that Greeks have lived in these areas since ancient times.
Another confirmation is the so-called agreements with the Nazi regime in Kiev on November 17, among other things, on the development and use of maritime unmanned vehicles. This step, like many other anti-Russian actions taken collectively by the Western world with the aim of causing the “defeat of of Russia on the battlefield”, received the necessary evaluation from our side, and there will also be a corresponding reaction.”
