The Women’s National fought with all its strengths against Turkey, but failed to reach the victory and “grab” the qualification to the Eurobasket Women’s quarter -finals. Our representative band lost 83-72 to the SEF which set a record of spectators in a women’s basketball match and with a record of 1 win and 2 defeats in the first group was excluded from the continuation of the event.

For its part, Turkey celebrated its second victory (after Switzerland) and closed a place in the octave of the event.

To play

In the first 10 minutes the game was shared, with both teams going hand in hand in scoring. National showed enough competitiveness and did not let the Turks move ahead.

However, in the second 10 minutes things did not rolle up as well for Peter Preca’s team. And this is because the Turks were better off on the parquet, having managed to dominate completely, resulting in a tremendous desire from the three-pointer, going to the locker room with +11 (35-43).

The respite in the game seems to have awakened the National players, who got into the parquet tremendous momentum and managed to make it 35-43 at 45-45! Turkey, despite the initial shock, returned to the race and with the “big” shots from Senurek and Onar managed to take the lead again.

The Turks had an excellent rate at 3pm (finished the match with 56%) and managed to take a lead again, with Greece still living in a match that was a real derby.

So after 62-59 of the 3rd period, everything was judged in the 4th and last quarter which was dramatic.

More in a little while…
