Grants for damage from September 2023 floods in Karditsa and Trikala

Continuing by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, in cooperation with the Region of Thessaly and the Region of Central Greece, the implementation of the framework of state relief to businesses affected by the extremes flooding of September 2023, as well as to farms and farms damage In their equipment, in their assets, in the funding, etc.

As announced by the Ministry, the first decisions were made to submit beneficiaries under the General September 2023 floods on 1 August 2025 for the Karditsa Regional Unit of the Region of Thessaly (Government Gazette B.4300) (Government Gazette B ‘4274).

Specifically, about 580 beneficiaries joined the grant regime, with an estimated grant of approximately EUR 1.75 million and will be followed by the mission and examination of the beneficiaries’ supporting documents to pay the final grant, through the continued cooperation of the Region and the Ministry.

At the same time, relevant similar decisions will follow for other beneficiaries, depending on the process of processing the data by the Regions and the Ministry.

The total grant amounts to 70% of an estimated damage by the Committees and the State Relief of the Region. The total grant deducts the first assistance against a grant and the advance payment of a grant already paid.

It is recalled that the deposit was 86% of the total grant, so the balance of the grant to be paid after submission of documentation dossiers amounts to 14% of the total grant, with the first assistance of offsetting it.

It is recalled that a total of EUR 80.11 million have been paid as a first assistance to a grant in more than 28,500 cases of beneficiaries, businesses, farm farms and farmers, of which EUR 76.7 million in the Region of Thessaly and EUR 3.37 million in the Region of Central Greece.

In particular, according to information from the General Secretariat for Natural Disaster and State Relief, at the end of July 2025, the payment of the augmented advance was completed as a down payment of 86% of the grant of state relief, to businesses, farms, farms and farmers, Thessaly and the Regional Units of Fthiotida and Evia of the Region of Central Greece.

A total of EUR 220 million were paid as an advance, for 21,657 beneficiaries. In particular, € 212.36 million were paid, to about 20,610 beneficiaries in the Region of Thessaly, of which € 100 million relate to farmers/farmers and approximately EUR 7.5 million, to about 1,047 beneficiaries in the Region of Central Greece, of which EUR 4.76 million, around EUR 892.

Therefore, more than 300m euros have been paid to date against the total grant to deal with damage from September 2023 floods, businesses, farms and breeders.
