Germany: Ready to fund $ 500 million military aid package for Ukraine

OR Germany announced that, along with other NATO allies, he is ready to fund military aid package to the Ukraineworth up to $ 500 million. According to the Foreign and Defense Ministries, this is one of the first fully coordinated initiatives of the Alliance to strengthen Kiev.

Germany’s move followed by the statement by US President Donald Trump, who had announced on July 14 that Washington would provide military equipment and ammunition to Ukraine through various support packages.

NATO will coordinate the implementation, through the Purl mechanism, so that the content responds to the most urgent needs of the Ukrainian army. Funding will come mainly from European countries and Canada.

According to Berlin, packages will include equipment that is either not produced by the European Defense Industry or can be delivered faster than the US, such as critical anti -aircraft systems to tackle continuing Russian air strikes.

“We thank the US for their willingness to continue to supply weapons and ammunition to Ukraine and welcome the recent contributions of the allies,” the statement said, stressing that Germany’s participation demonstrates “the solidarity of the alliance and the alliance”.

Since the start of the Russian invasion, on 24 February 2022, Germany has allocated about 40 billion euros to bilateral military aid to Ukraine and is ready to continue support in the coming years.
