This procedure is extremely rare at both national and European level, as the teenager is the youngest patient in Greece who has been operated on for pulmonary embolism with this method.

In his statement, Mr Kipachi warmly thanked all those who contributed to the well -coordination of the interference and the intervention: the President of the Scientific Council, Mr. Pagonis, the Governor of “G. Gennimatas ”, Mr. Maina, the Governor of the 1st RUD, Mr. Balauras, as well as the political leadership of the Ministry of Health, Minister Adonis Georgiades himself and Mr Marios Themistocleous.
He also made special mention to the doctors of the ICU of “Hagia Sophia” – K. Barbaresos, K. Gazelopoulou, Mr. Astyrakakis and K. Bourazani – for the difficult intubation and transportation of the patient, stressing that “the child was saved and will continue his life”.
