The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met today (09.10.2025) in Ramallah with activists from Israelwith whom he discussed the issue of a sustainable peace between Israelis and Palestinians, following a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
“I welcome the agreement signed today, the end of the war and the liberation of the hostages,” Mahmoud Abbas told dozens of representatives of Israeli, peaceful organizations gathered at the Western Bank Presidential Palace occupied by 1967.
“A few months ago (US President Donald) Trump had a plan to expel the Palestinians, but later forgot it. We will stay in our homeland and establish a Palestinian state in Gaza, the West Bank and the East Jerusalem, “Abbas added.
In the presence of Israeli MP, Palestinian origin, Aiman Odeh and the Vice President of the Palestinian Authority Hussein al -Sheikh, Abbas, who rarely appears publicly, exchanged smiles and jokes with those present. Among the guests was Ilami Ilam, an activist and conscientious objection, who explained why he chose not to serve in the Israeli army, while Abbas made a reward gesture.

The details of the truce agreement in Gaza between Israel and Hamas – Abbas’ anti -Antipal organization – were not discussed at the meeting.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has essentially ruled out the possibility that the Palestinian Abbas authority will take over the Gaza rule after the war.
However, its vice -president, Hussein al -Sheikh, said in a post on the X platform that the Palestinian Authority has completed all the preparations necessary to run the Gaza Strip and to oversee the reconstruction of the enclave.
