Its chairman European Central Bank, Christine Lagardeshe is thinking of interrupting her tenure to take over the presidency of the World Economic Forum (WEF), said the founder of the organization, Klaus Svab, in an interview with the Financial Times.
There were practical arrangements for the arrival of Lagarde, including booking an apartment in Villa Mundi, which belongs to the WEF (World Economic Forum), near the headquarters of the organization, Svab said. Svab and the ECB president had discussed a plan to replace him as head of the WEF for “several years”, he added.
A spokesman for the ECB said that “Lagarde President has always been fully committed to fulfilling her mission and is determined to complete her term”, according to Bloomberg. This term lasts until 2027.
Claus Svab is the leadership of the WEF for more than half a century. A bitter internal battle emerged when the Board of Directors informed Svab that he had received a letter accusing him of a financial offense and that an investigation would be conducted. He finally resigned from all his duties in April.
