France: President Macron wants a trade agreement with the US “as soon as possible”

The President of France Emmanuel Macron requested today (03.07.2025) to reach a “as soon as possible” trade agreement between the European Union and the US, with the lowest possible duties.

“For me, good agreement is the agreement that will be reached as soon as possible, with the lowest possible duties, which will be fair and stable,” said Emmanuel Macron, six days before the deadline set by US President Donald Trump.

In addition, Macron threatened Iran with retaliation if he did not withdraw the charges against two French citizens held in Iranian prisons.

The French Agency broadcast yesterday (02.07.2025) that she was prosecuted by Cecil Koher and her partner, Jacques Paris, for espionage in favor of the Israeli Mosad intelligence service. Paris claims that the couple is arbitrarily detained, in conditions that refer to torture.

Macron said that “countermeasures” would be obtained if Tehran insists on the accusations, which he described as a “challenge against France” and “unacceptable choice of aggression”. He added that he intends to talk soon about the issue with his Iranian counterpart, Massoud Pezkian.
