Capago International, the new visa processing company of France in Algeria, has introduced simplified procedures for visa applicants in the country.
More specifically, candidates for French visas in Algeria no longer need to book an appointment to file their visa application. This process cuts waiting times significantly and makes it easier for Algerians applying for Schengen visas, Schengen.News reports.
This facilitation in the visa application process comes thanks to the automation of the slot allocation system.
Algerian Students Don’t Need to Book Applications for France Schengen Visas Anymore
Algerian applicants will receive a message that confirms that their Campus France procedure has been completed, also citing the date and time of the appointment.
Capago recommends that students regularly check their spam folders to avoid missing this notification, as it will impact the communication with the authority. Once assigned, the appointment cannot be modified, which requires candidates to plan their appointment carefully.
Capago International has become the new visa service provider for France in Algeria since April 2025, substituting VFS Global and TLS Contact. The latter continues to provide visa services in many countries, including Morocco, which is a neighbouring country of Algeria.
Moreover, TLScontact has replaced VFS Global for US applicationswith this change entering into force on April 18. TLScontact has established ten centres across the US where applicants can submit their applications for French visas.
The same visa outsourcing company has also extended its services to southern Moroccooffering services at a national level.
Algeria Is Among Top Countries of Origin for International Students in France
According to Key Data on Student Mobility by Campus France, Morocco, Algeria, and China represent the top three countries of origin for international students in France.
Morocco, Algeria and China are still the three main countries of origin of international students in France and 21 of the top 25 contingents of international students are increasing in 2022–2023, with a particularly strong rise in the number of Italian, Spanish, Lebanese, Congolese, and Indian students.
In the 2022/2023 academic year, there were a total of 32,147 Algerian students in France, representing eight per cent of all international students in the country.
Compared to the previous academic year, the number of Algerian students rose by four per cent, while in the five-year period, indicating years between 2017 and 2022, there was an increase of five per cent in students from Algeria.
