France: 2 women lost their lives trying to cross the Channel

Tragic ending had attempted two women to cross the Channel along with others immigrants near Boulon-Sir-Mer in the north Francesince they did not succeed and died on Friday night (26/9/2025).

As the French Agency was informed by the authorities, the tragedy happened off the Nessatel-Ardello coast while about 100 immigrants were trying to cross the Channel with an improvised boat to reach France to the United Kingdom.

The French newspaper La Voix du Nord reported that the two who died were women.

Other people involved in the attempt, a total of 60, were also rescued “are currently cared for by civil protection”, according to official Isabelle Fradin-Thirode spokesman.

A couple and their child, who suffered from hypothermia, were rushed to a hospital in Boulon, he added.

This incident has raised to at least 25 the number of deaths in these attempts for illegal crossing between France and the United Kingdom since the beginning of the year, according to an AFP counting of official data.
