The former mayor of BucharestSorin Pescu was arrested in Thessaloniki in a European warrant that is pending against him by the Romanian authorities, according to ELAS sources.
The 74 -year -old former Mayor of Bucharest is being issued by the Romanian authorities to serve a penalty that, according to the arrest warrant, is linked to the offenses of criminal organization, bribery and money laundering.
Reports indicate that his arrest was made on Saturday afternoon (04.10.2025) in an outdoor area of the Macedonian International Airport.
The 74 -year -old is being held and is expected to be brought to the Thessaloniki Public Prosecutor’s Office on Monday, October 6, to begin the procedures for the Romanian issuance.
