“Following Greece’s initiative to establish national marine parks in the Ionian and Aegean Sea, in areas of Greek domination, the Turkey announced the designation of two marine protected areas and in international waters of the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean, ”the State Department in his announcement.
As he points out, “The announcement of” marine parks “in non -demarcated areas outside Turkish territorial waters is an unacceptable, unilateral and illegal energy that produces no legal effect over Greek sovereign rights and shows complete lack of respect for international law.”
“The Greek government is constantly and consistently acting to protect the rights of our homeland and the viability of our seas and reminds us that reflective actions of empty content place the good neighborly relations between the two countries,” he concludes.
The reaction of the Greek Foreign Ministry has come in response Posting a map by Turkey for maritime parks in the Aegean, which excludes Kastelorizo.
According to his correspondent SKAIin Constantinople Manolis Kostidis, the Ankara Maritime Center issued the Turkish map for marine parks. According to the map, the Aegean Sea Park extends outside the territorial waters west of Imbros and Tenedos between Samothrace and Lemnos.
In the eastern Mediterranean the marine park excludes Kastelorizo as the sea park begins northeast of Rhodes and reaches off the coast of Antalya.
