Suspicions of arson in Kefalonia
An alarm was sounded in the morning in Kefalonia, where a fire on a farm area occurred in the Karavados area. The winds that were blowing in the area quickly gave the fire, which came close to houses.
The threat to residential areas led to the activation of the “112”, inviting the residents to the settlements of Karavados, Dorizata and Keramies to evacuate to Argostoli. The spot is operated by 40 firefighters, hiking sections, 7 vehicles and an impressive 7 aircraft and 3 helicopter.
Speaking to ertnews.gr, the Mayor of Argostoli, Theophilos Michalatos, leaving clear spikes for arson, citing the identification of three different outbreaks. “It is logical arson,” he said characteristically, explaining that while the two initial outbreaks were under control, the third continues to burn threateningly near homes, with the weather not to favor the extinguishing.
