Fire Alarm: In “Red” Attica, Boeotia and Euboea – Recommendations to Citizens

Authorities are calling on citizens to be very careful, to avoid activities that could cause fire and to immediately notify 199 in the event of a tobacco or flame.

The General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection has informed the competent officials involved state agencies, as well as the regions and municipalities of the above areas, in order to be on increased civil protection readiness to address any fire incidents immediately.

Recommendations to citizens

At the same time, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection recommends that citizens are very careful and to avoid actions in the countryside that can cause fire by negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning residues, using sparks, cigarettes, etc.

Consequently, air surveillance patrols continue, as well as patrols by firefighters, police and military forces.

At the same time, Civil Protection Actions Plan remains in force In order to address risks due to forest fires, according to which, among other things, it is foreseen to apply the preventive prohibition of vehicles and staying on national parks, forests and “vulnerable” areas.

The Fire Department also notes that the risk of forest fires will be extreme in many parts of the country, as there will be extremely favorable conditions for their event.

At the same time the Fire Brigade appeals to citizens:

Be very careful and avoid actions in the countryside that can cause fire from negligence, such as i. Burning dry grass and branches or cleaning residues, II. The use of machines that cause sparks such as saws, welding devices, III. The use of outdoor barbecue, iv. Bee smoking, v. The throwing of lit cigarettes, etc.
