Three officials with the knowledge of the negotiations told the Financial Times that the deal is now at an advanced stage, with both sides reaching the key points and remaining final technical details and political “green light”.
The European Commission, which has the sole responsibility for the EU commercial policy, today briefed the permanent representatives of the Member States about the recent contacts with US officials.
According to diplomatic sources, the Commission seeks to prevent any negative reactions from states that may be affected by the imposition of new duties, mainly in the agri -food sector.
