Mr Tsipras, in a post on Facebook, attacked the government, accusing it of increasing inequalities and returning to “generalized corruption”, setting the recent European agricultural grant scandal.
The Tsipras fire
“Current growth benefits only one minority,” he noted, citing evidence that:
-
only 1 in 5 Greeks live well,
-
45% of the population has financial difficulties,
-
35% is indebted.
Mr Tsipras stressed that on his own governance “the richest were burdened and inequalities were reduced”, and now-as he said-“the poorest saw their incomes decrease by 8.1% in 2019-2023, while the richest saw 13% increase.”
At the same time, he stressed that Greece was able to restructure its debt and get out of the Memorandum in 2018, securing low interest rates by 2032.
The Marinaki answer
The government, through its representative Paul Marinakishe launched a harsh attack on the former prime minister, accusing him of “deceiving Greek society” and that his rule was “the happiest period for barbarians, rapists and arsonists”.
“Mr Tsipras lost in all constituencies, in all social groups, except for prisons incarcerated,” the government spokesman said, reintroducing the argument that he “charged the country with 100 billion euros” and “ruling the right right”.
The stakes
The new controversy rekindlers the debate about the role that Alexis Tsipras is seeking to play in public dialogue after his departure from the SYRIZA leadership. Its placement in The world and corruption spikes indicate that Former Prime Minister is attempting to declarewhile the government chooses to deal with it with strongness, believing that its political footprint remains an open account.
✒️ The political confrontation is again a personal character, with Alexis Tsipras returning vigorously to the foreground and the Maximus Palace responding with heavy characterizations.
