“Thank you, football … With a blend of gratitude and nostalgia I say goodbye today to this scene that gave me so much: the stadiums. For years, this was my second home, the place where the dreams took shape, where the joys were shared and where our defeats were taught.
Every corner of this stadium holds a memory: the smell of grass, the sound of the ball that rolls, the scream of the stand, the hugs after a goal, the frustration of a mistake and the iron unity with my teammates. Here I sweated, fought, smiled and cried.
More than a sport, football was a passion that shaped me, challenged me and made me mature as a human being. They helped to go beyond my limits; in administration, for support and trust; and of course in the fans, who with their unconditional passion was always our 12th player, inspiring us to give the best.
Today I hang the shoes, but the flame of football remains lit in my heart. This is not a farewell, but one in the back. Memories will stay forever, and the bond with this sport that I love will remain so much. “
“Thanks, football. Thanks, stadiums. I was happy here. Thank you, family.”, It was Barrela’s farewell message.
