Fell the first fines of 56,000 euros in organic certification bodies

Fines exceeding 56,000 euros was imposed by the competent Committee on objections of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food In Audit and Certification Organizations (OEP) organic products For serious omissions and non-compliance found by ELGO-DIMITRA in the previous period, during regular and extraordinary check.

It is noted that the controls on organism and certification organizations (OEP) of organic products, at the behest of the Minister of Rural Development and Food Costas Tsiaras, following a meeting with Deputy Minister Yiannis Andrianos and the relevant Secretary General Spyros Spyros Consumer offenses, with the aim of protecting the consumer and supporting consistent producers.

Specifically, a certification company imposed a fine of 37,692.30 euros for cases involving the insufficient investigation of unauthorized substances, improper evaluation of information in the European system of thes and deficiencies in the mass balance and traceability. Another company was imposed a fine totaling EUR 18,922.85, for cases concerning the issuance of certificates without the compulsory annual physical audit, as well as for incomplete management of non -compliant products.
The total amount of fines imposed is EUR 56,615.15.

The above decisions are part of an overall plan to tighten the OEP control and evaluation framework, with the aim of enhancing consumer confidence in Greek organic products and to secure the quality and integrity of Greek organic production.

The Ministry of Rural Development and Food is consistently, transparent and determination in the consolidation of the control and certification system, enhancing the credibility of the institutional framework and ensuring the interests of consumers, producers and the national economy.
