Farmers: At 255.1 million euro the expenditure for the equalization compensation of 2024


At 255.1 million total public expenditure for the compensatory damages of the year 2024, according to a decision published yesterday (11.12.2024) in Diaugia.

The amount specifically amounts to 255,076,923 euros and, as every year, it is expected to be paid by OPEKEPE by the end of the calendar year. Payment of equalization compensation will be made in the week between Christmas and New Year.

At the same time, it is planned to include the admissible requests for aid in Intervention P.3-71, which concern:

  • Action 1: “Compensatory aid in mountainous areas”.
  • Action 2: “Compensatory aid in areas with natural limitations other than the mountains”.
  • Action 3: “Compensatory aid in areas with special disadvantages”.

Specifically, the total expenditure of 255,076,923 euros is analyzed as follows:

  • For Action 1, public expenditure of 185,076,923 euros.
  • For Action 2, public expenditure of 60,000,000 euros.
  • For Action 3, public expenditure of 10,000,000 euros.

The total budget of the actions proposed for registration in the Public Investment Program and in particular in SA 082/7 amounts to 245,000,000.00 euros.

Finally, according to the amendment, an overcommitment of up to 110% of the total public expenditure specified in the call for the inclusion of admissible aid applications can be made.

Beneficiaries of the measure can be considered natural and legal persons, who are active farmers, carry out agricultural activity and are adults (in the case of natural persons) and have not left active employment.

Beneficiaries undertake the obligation to:

  1. To maintain the extent with which they are included in the intervention throughout the aid year,
  2. depending on the elements of plant and animal capital included in their exploitation, to comply with the obligations in the context of “enhanced air quality”,
  3. to accept and facilitate all the prescribed controls by the competent National and Community Bodies.
