“The prime minister is leaving. Mr. Mitsotakis, after causing the perfect storm and the collapse of the primary sector, today blew it through the back door of the airport fence in Alexandroupolis, to avoid the farmers”, underlines the president of SYRIZA-PS in his statement, Socrates Famous.
“What should he tell them anyway? For the “blue locusts” and the theft of a billion from OPEKEPE by the “Frapedes” and the “Butchers”? For the delay of the 2024 and 2025 subsidies, which lead to despair for farmers? For the ELGA compensations, which in some areas such as Thessaly, are even 2.5 years late? For smallpox in sheep and goats, which destroys livestock and Greek livestock farming? Or for the extremely high cost of production? Or about the drought problem even in the Evros? Or for the privatization of irrigation?”, he asks, recalling that he discussed these with the farmers in Alexandroupoli on Friday.
“This is why they are protesting today in Athens. And they are right. The SW is dangerous and leads to the desolation of the Greek countryside. They need to leave as soon as possible. Not from the back door… From the government”, he notes and concludes:
“SYRIZA-PS has for a year proposed a plan to support the entire agricultural sector, necessary for the productive and social regeneration of our country. And this plan can only be implemented by a progressive government.”
