“Since things are going so well in renewables, why are we throwing green energy away?”
“Beyond the glamorous communication wrapper, the developments in energetically are worrying”, the president of SYRIZA-PS underlines in his post, Socrates Famous.
“On the one hand, Mr. Mitsotakis blindly serves the interests of Trump and Netanyahu, and on the other, the promotion of mining as a priority with the support of the government of the fossil fuel cartel. Mr. Mitsotakis repeated today the false big words about green energy and RES, in order to hide the fact that we are European champions in electricity accuracy so that the energy companies can make billions in excess profits”, he notes and wonders:
“Since things are going so well in renewables, why are we throwing green energy away? Why are there no storage infrastructures and the energy communities, the projects of the Municipalities, the farmers and the self-production of Greek manufacturing have remained offline and licensed? Is it to serve the oligopolies and foreign interests there as well, by giving the electric space, as it did in the unjust and violent transition of Western Macedonia?”
“Without an active foreign policy strategy and with the wrong energy strategy, the country’s interests are not served. Instead, they retreat. The country is committed to imported energy resources, the fossil fuel and energy cartels are partying and serious questions are being raised about the conditions and divestment of Greek State assets”, S. Famellos continues, recalling that “Greece’s gas infrastructure, such as the Alexandroupolis LNG project and the vertical connection with Bulgaria, went ahead and strengthened with the SYRIZA government, with the aim of securing energy supply and diversifying supply sources. Not for the one-dimensional tying down and serving American interests.”
“Amidst his impasses, Mr. Mitsotakis is looking for a communication lifeline. And to find it, he chose to act as a servant of the economic and geopolitical interests of the US and LNG, mortgaging the energy security of the country. Otherwise, we are still waiting for answers regarding the interruption of the electrical interconnection project with Cyprus”, concludes the post of S. Famellos.
