The president of SYRIZA for the anniversary of Labor Day
SYRIZA President Socrates Famellos took part in the gathering of Labor Day in Thessaloniki.
As Mr Famellos stated: “Labor Day is a day of memory and struggle.
We honor the victims of the workers’ struggle for workers’ workers today, but at the same time we are still claiming the strengthening of workers’ rights and the whole world of work. Particularly in Greece of unpaid reps, overtime, flexible hours, low wages, many work accidents and lack of collective employment contracts, labor rights are timed.
We all concern us all and that’s why we’re here today. Because employees are now claiming their rights at work. Because things do not go well in their pay, their rights, but also to the cost of living. There is no life with dignity today in Greece by Mr. Mitsotakis and at the same time the trade union rights of workers are affected.
The strike is a right, but Mr. Mitsotakis does her wrongdoing and does the unions. And it is provocative that the day before the Labor May Day was fired the previous chairman of the drivers because he was nominated for his trade union elections. Trade unionism is a right and at the same time the freedom of opinion, of the view because we do not forget that it was the Mr. Genidounia the one who sent the out -of -court safety on the railways. It is also a right.
We therefore claim rights of work and life in a Greece we claim to be free, to be democratic. This means Labor Day, it means freedom, democracy for both workers and all citizens. And SYRIZA is here to participate in both the course and the struggle and the path of political change. Because all this must change in Greece. This situation is not going. “
