The positions of the rectors of AEI announced Rectorswhich met on Wednesday, on Wednesday, on the Ministry of Education’s bill, which will be discussed tomorrow, Thursday, at the Plenary.
According to the unanimous decision of the Synod, the Rectors “with a sense of responsibility, confirm their dedication to the proper and democratic functioning of higher education institutions so that, in a time of great pressure on the younger generations, they will continue to provide high quality education for the benefit of society.”
In more detail, regarding the issue of student deletion, the meeting welcomed the fact that “its proposals for student deletions were taken to some extent in the final formation of the articles of the bill on higher education”. However, it reiterated the proposal to allow the universities of justified “special” cases of students at risk of deletion within a limited percentage limit, which will be defined in the law.
On the security issues of the universities, the Summit reiterated its firm position on the importance of taking civil protection measures, “in order to ensure the safe daily life of all members of the academic community, and that, due to the particularities of each university, any measures to address incidents should not be implemented”.
Finally, in terms of disciplinary provisions, the Summit stated that the proposed penalties either concern students or members of the Faculty, EPP, EDIP, EIB “must be proportional to the severity of the misconduct and to comply with the pedagogical and social role of higher education”.
