An important development for the work of electrical interconnection Cyprus -Greece marks today’s publication in the Official Journal of the Republic of Decisions 302 and 303/2025 of the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority (RACE), by which they are transferred to the ADME License License Line Loop and Loin License License, which until now belonged to the company EuroAsia Interconnector.
This development comes in immediate continuation of yesterday’s meeting of energy ministers Stavrou Papastavrou and George Papanastasiouheld in Athens, in the presence of the Cypriot Ambassador in Greece Stavrou Augustides and the Greek Deputy Minister of the Environment Nikos Tsafou. The meeting was held in a spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding, with the aim of accelerating the implementation of the project and the definitive resolution of all issues.
The new phase, as agreed at the meeting, begins with the aim of resolving all issues that remain open – geopolitical, economic and technical – so that there is a front of the front and to eliminate the reservations about the project.
In terms of techno -economic issues, in addition to transferring the licenses and management of the project to ADMIE, the RAEK decision to determine the charge of use of the electrical interconnection is on the table to give ADMIE the approved revenue of EUR 25 million for EUR 20 million for the EUR 20 million. Only EUR 82 million have been approved against a total of EUR 250 million.
At the same time, the Joint RAEK – RAAEP -RAEP decision on the operating cost (OPEX) of the project for 2025 is pending, as well as the approval of the € 19m Nexans.
The two sides make an appointment for the next Tuesday, at the meeting to be held with the European Union Energy Commissioner, Dan Yorgensenin an effort to ensure further European support for the project of electricity interconnection.
