The 211 years since its founding Friendly company celebrated at Zakynthos. The beautiful island of the Ionian Islands was one of the most important cracks of the Friendly Society – which the Zakynthians embraced with warmth – after being initiated by both ordinary citizens and prominent members of the island’s aristocratic society.
In addition to Theodoros Kolokotronis, who lived on the island over the years around the revolution and was initiated into the Friendly Society, it is recalled that its members were still Dionysios Roma, Anastasios Flambouriaris, Caesar Efstathiou Logothetis, Antonios Martinos.
On Sunday, September 14th, where the anniversary of the founding of the Friendly Society (September 14, 1814) a memorial was held in the historic chapel of Ag. Georgiou of the Friendly, followed by wreaths in the tombstone with the bust of the hero of the revolution – friendly and Mason Th. Kolokotronis.
At the events organized by the island’s “Sun” Stoa on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of its founding, the Council of the Grand Lodge of Greece, led by the great teacher G. Biniaris, attended.
Mr Biniaris, among other things, said: “We celebrate the 211 years since the founding of the Friendly Society, which in these holy soils, all of these euphoric created, so that they can subsequently utilize these forces and have a favorable treatment of the European countries, We watched a memorial service for these people who gave their blood and, of course, most were mates. “
During the celebrations, a visit to the graves of the Roma family and the bust of Th. Kolokotronis, as well as the Stranis Hill.
Also the unveiling of the bust of the founder and the first great teacher of Dionysius Roma at the Masonic Palace, on Ag. Luke, which bears his name.
