Greece, for Second time since the start of EUSAIR strategyexercises the presidency of the European Union’s macro -regional strategy for the Adriatic – Ionian region (EUSAIR) for the period 2024-2025and at the same time for the fourth time of her Adriatic-Ionian Initiative (AII).
In this context, our country is organizing the 10th annual EUSAIR FORUMwhich will take place in Georgioupoli Chania, Creteby the 5 to 8 May 2025. This is about the Top organization of the strategythat marks the climax of a complete cycle of events, political and technical meetingswhich were implemented throughout the Greek Presidency, which began the June 2024.
The forum, entitled “Bridging Horizons: Strengthening Cooperation, Resilience, and Cohesion in the Adriatic-Ionian Region“, Co -organized by Ministry of National Economy & Finance and State Departmentin cooperation with the European Commission.
From the Greek side, the forum’s ministerial work participates The Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Mr. Nikos Papathanassis, and The Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Tasos Hatzivasiliou.
Aim of the Greek Presidency and the Forum is The strengthening of regional cooperation in the Macro -Circuit of the Adriatic – Ionian Sea, the promotion of the European perspective of the Western Balkans, the emergence of the role of social cohesionhighlighting blue skills and tackling climate change in the new revised action plan and Eusair’s connection to future cohesion policy after 2027.
Forum’s official ministerial part includes:
- her Ministerial Meeting Summit of the Initiative / Eusairto May 6by adopting her Declaration of Crete,
- the Panel of Ministers responsible for European programs
- her Presidency Delivery Ceremony From Greece to Northern Macedonia,
- as and press conference of the heads of the two presidencies.
At the same time the forum includes Rich program of sessions and thematic events by the 5 to 8 May 2025by participating above 400 representatives From the Member States of the Strategy, the European Commission, the Regions, the Academic Community, Civil Society and the Business World.
The 10th Forum’s hospitality in Crete highlights the strategic role of Greece as Bridge between European Union and Western Balkanswhile confirming the steady commitment of the country in reinforcing the European cohesion, transnational cooperation and sustainable development in the wider area.
