EU proposal to ban Russian gas will be the subject of hot negotiations

The European Commission presented the proposal today (17/06/2025) with the legislation required to terminate the bloc dependence on Moscow’s supplies and liquefied natural gas supplies, starting with the ban on new agreements from the following year. Supplies under existing contracts less than one year will stop at the latest from 17 June 2026.

The prohibition of deliveries in the context of existing long -term agreements will come into force by the end of 2027.
