Two dead from coronavirus were recorded in the week of October 20 – October 26, according to his epidemiological report EODY which was made public on Thursday (30.10.2025).
The positivity for covid-19 in the community in the week of October 20-26 decreased, according to the EODY epidemiological report on respiratory infections. Also, at very low levels, with the detection of only sporadic positive samples, positivity for influenza is also found.
The EODY report states the following:
Influenza-like illness – ILI (regardless of pathogen)
The number of influenza cases per 1,000 visits is low, but higher than the historical data of the corresponding period. A decrease compared to the previous week was recorded.
Severe Acute Respiratory Infection – SARI (regardless of pathogen)
The number of SARI cases per 1,000 visits is low, showing a decrease compared to the previous week
SARS-CoV2 virus – COVID-19 infection
The positivity resulting from all SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic tests in the territory showed a decrease compared to the previous week.
Since the beginning of the summer, sporadic cases of intubation and deaths have been recorded.
In the last week, no new intubation was recorded, while two new deaths were recorded.
From the end of spring onwards, co-circulation of LP.8.1, NB.1.8.1 and XFG strains (Variants Under Monitoring according to ECDC and WHO/EURO) is recorded, with a gradual upward trend of XFG, which is currently the dominant strain in detections.
Nationally, the weighted viral load in municipal wastewater for the territory is at moderate levels compared to historical data, showing a decrease from the previous week.
Influenza virus
Influenza positivity in the community (as assessed by the Sentinel PHC surveillance network) and in secondary care (as assessed by the SARI surveillance network) is very low, with only sporadic positive samples detected.
During the last week, one new serious case with hospitalization in ICU was recorded, while no new deaths from laboratory-confirmed influenza were recorded.
In total, in the last three weeks, among 557 samples (of Sentinel community origin, SARI surveillance and hospitals outside surveillance networks), nine positive samples for influenza A viruses were found.
Of the seven type A strains subtyped, 2 belonged to subtype A(H3) and 5 to subtype A(H1)pdm09.
Respiratory syncytial virus – RSV
No positive samples were found in the community (PHC Sentinel surveillance network), nor in SARI surveillance network hospitals.
