The Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection announced that it was foreseen exemption by the single property tax tax (ENFIA) for three years for property owners, which have been hit by fires from June 2025 until today and have officially been declared a state of emergency civil protection by decision of the Secretary General of Civil Protection.
In addition, the Municipality of Mantoudi – Lake – Agia Anna, in northern Euboea, which has been affected by an earthquake (May 19, 2025) and has been declared an emergency.
As noted in the Ministry’s announcement: “This regulation, based on Article 10 (4) of Law 5219/2025, aims to provide financial relief to natural persons and businesses that have suffered damage to natural disasters, such as fires, earthquakes or floods. The exemption from the Single Property Tax (ENFIA) applies to the tax year in which the disaster took place, as well as for the next two tax years. The exemption applies to buildings with the relevant land, for which a dangerous autopsy protocol has been issued or re -exposure to the competent services of the General Secretariat for Restoration damaged or temporarily unsuitable for use. Regarding the parcels and buildings on them, the issuance of a certificate of destruction by the competent Department of Rural Development and Controls (TAEE) is a prerequisite, based on the data provided by ELGA. “
In addition, it is emphasized that ‘the exemption applies as long as ownership or other property rights on the property at the time of the disaster belong to the taxable tax for those years. The application is submitted to the tax administration for the first year of exemption and automatically covers both years. “
“This arrangement is an important measure of supporting those affected by natural disasters, providing economic relief and helping to repair damage and restarting the local economy,” the ministry’s statement concludes.
