ELSTAT: 2% reduced inflation in April

Inflation in Greece in April (from 2.4% in April) was reduced to 2%, according to ELSTAT data.

In particular, ELSTAT announced that the comparison of the General April 2025 with the corresponding April 2024 index resulted in a 2.0% increase against 3.1% increased in the corresponding comparison of 2024 to 2023

The General CPA in April 2025, compared to March 2025, did not change. The corresponding comparison of the previous year was 0.5%. The mid -month May 2024 – April 2025, compared to the corresponding index of May 2023 – April 2024, increased by 2.5%, compared to 2.8% in the corresponding May 2023 – April 2024 – 2024 – April 2024 – April 2024 increase. April 2023.

The zero change of the General CPA in April 2025, compared to the corresponding index of March 2025, came mainly from the changes in the following groups of goods and services:

1. From the increases of indicators by:

  • 4.5% in the clothing and footwear group, due to price reinstatement to levels before winter discounts.
  • 0.2% in the Health Group, due to increased prices in medical services.
  • 2.0% in the Transport Group, mainly due to raising prices on passenger passenger tickets. Part of this increase was offset by the decrease mainly of fuel prices and lubricants.
  • 1.1% in the hotels-brown-restaurant team, mainly due to prices in: restaurants-pastry shops-cafes, brothers-panties.

2. From the reductions of indicators by:

  • 0.3% in the Nutrition and Non-Alcoholic Drinks Group, due to a decrease in prices in: other bakery products, and pastry, pasta, poultry, cheeses, oils and fats, frozen vegetables, sauces, minerals, mineral water-cooler-juices. Part of this reduction was offset by the increase of prices mainly in: bread, beef, pork, lamb and goat, fresh vegetables, coffee.
  • 0.6% in the group of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, due to a decrease in prices in alcoholic beverages (non -served).
  • 3.0% in the housing group, due to a decrease in prices in: electricity, gas, heating oil. Part of this reduction was offset by the increase in housing rental prices.
  • 0.3% in the constant household goods and services, mainly due to a reduction in prices in direct consumption of household consumption.
  • 1.4% in the group other goods and services, due to a decrease in prices in: other types of individual care, vehicle premiums

The increase in the General DTC by 2.0% in April 2025, compared to the corresponding index of April 2024, mainly came from the changes in the following groups of goods and services:

1. From the increases of indicators by:

  • 2.0% in the Nutrition and Non-Alcoholic Drinks Group, due to rising prices in: bread, other bakery and pastry products, meats (general), fresh fish, yogurt, eggs, fruits (general), vegetables (general), sugar-chocolate-chocolate-chocolates, Part of this increase was offset by the decrease mainly of prices in: cheeses, olive oil, sauces.
  • 4.6% in the clothing and footwear group due to rising prices in clothing and footwear.
  • 3.4% in the housing group, due to increased prices in: Home rentals, home repair and maintenance, home -related services, electricity, gas. Part of this increase was offset by the decrease mainly of prices in: Heating oil, solid fuels.
  • 1.7% in the Health Group, mainly due to price prices in: pharmaceuticals, medical products, medical dedication and paramedical services, hospital care.
  • 1.6% in the Communications Group, mainly due to price prices in telephone services.
  • 0.8% in the leisure-cultural activities, mainly due to prices of prices: small recreational-pearlings, entertainment and cultural services, newspapers-books and stationery, holiday package. Part of this increase was offset by the reduction of prices mainly in: audio and image processing equipment, constant recreation and culture goods.
  • 2.6% in the Group Education, mainly due to prices increase in: Preschool and Primary Education tuition, secondary education tuition.
  • 6.4% in the hotels-brown-restaurants group, mainly due to prices of prices in: restaurants-pastry shops-cafés, hotels-brothel-panties.

2. From the reductions of indicators by:

  • 0.6% in the constant household goods and services, mainly due to a decrease in prices in direct consumption of household consumption. Part of this reduction was offset by the increase in prices in: furniture and decorative items, home services.
  • 0.8% in the transport group, due to a decrease in prices in: used cars, fuels and lubricants. Part of this reduction was offset by the increase in prices mainly in: new cars, maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment, other personal transport services, plane passenger transport tickets.
  • 0.4% in the group other goods and services, due to a decrease in prices in other types of individual care. Part of this reduction was offset by the increase in prices mainly in: Hairdressers and Personal Care Stores, other personal items, social protection services, health premiums, other services.
