Mask. Its name is hosted in the headlines of international media. The richest man on the planet, a close associate of US President Donald Trump, with an important role in the US government won yet another bet … acquired his own city in South Texas. And the name of this… Starbase.
The “keys” of the city, which is the headquarters of the SpaceX space company, were given to Elon Musk after a vote.
Residents in a small piece of South Texas, which was previously known as Boca Tsika, voted on Saturday (03.05.25) to turn their neighborhoods into a space city.
As expected, the measure was approved with broad support, paving the way for a newly established city that will consist almost exclusively of SPACEX employees and people connected to the company.
The counting of the votes showed … Elon Musk, as 212 was in favor of integration and six by only 143 votes were needed to pass the measure.
“It is officially statistically impossible for the measure to fail,” said Cameron Cameron’s electoral director Remy Garza.
“Cameron is going to get a new city.”
Elon Musk celebrated the vote with a post on X on Saturday night.
“Starbase, Texas is now a real city!” wrote.

Shortly after the vote, an X account was created for the new city.
The new city of Starbase covers about 1.5 square miles (3.6 square kilometers) at the southern end of Texas, a coastal point located on the border with the Mexico. The area hosts SpaceX’s headquarters, and is the place where the company manufactures its promoters and engines.
The city, after the changes made by the company, seems to be out of science fiction movie, with futuristic production facilities, rows of almost identical houses and a huge bronze bust of Elon Musk.

The creation of the city was a goal that Elon Musk had set in an attempt to bypass the obstacles he was facing by the county.
SPACEX officials say the company is not able to provide housing to the hundreds of its employees who want to live near its headquarters. And a recent attempt to build additional homes was rejected by the county.
It is noted that at the moment just about 260 SPACEX employees They live in the settlement at the southern end of Texas, while together with their families they raise its total population near the 500.
The remaining 3,100 employees of the company reside in either Brunsvillethe nearest big city, or other nearby areas.
