Elena Rapti: “Strengthening the family is a national priority”

“The direction is clear: to reverse the declining course of births, to support young people to create a family in their country, and to ensure that every generation has a role and a reason,” the Deputy Minister of Social Cohesion and Family stressed, ” Elena Raptiat the seminar organized by the 3rd Army Corps on “The Role of the Family Today” at the Thessaloniki Guard Officers Club.

Ms. Rapti, in a video broadcast, referred to the actions taken in the context of the National Action Plan for Demographic. As he said, the birth allowance was introduced and increased, free prenatal control is provided, infant VAT has been reduced, the child’s allowance has increased and there are more vouchers for kindergartens, and a paternity permit was established.

He added that it was ensured that all mothers, freelancers, self -employed and farmers, had equal rights and 9 months of maternity allowance, increased the tax -free of 1,000 euros for families with children, the right to transfer to the father up to 7 months from the special permission and the protection of 6 -year -olds was increased by the child.

The deputy minister also stood by interventions that enhance the housing of young people and families and the establishment of the Demographic Policy Observatory. “We are well aware that the demographic is not treated with slogans or wishes. It takes long -term strategy, continuity and dedication. And that’s exactly what we do. Strengthening the family is a national priority for us. And we are committed to shaping an environment in which every human being can dream, design and build his life with stability and dignity, “Ms Rapti said.

The seminar was organized on the occasion of the celebration of World Family Day and is part of the 2025 announcement of the GEFTHA as “Family Year”. During this, key pillars such as the role of the family for child development, the importance of communication and quality within the family, the challenges and opportunities presented to the family in the digital age, as well as the spiritual character of the family, were developed.
