Eddie Jordan has revealed he has had ‘very dark days’ after being diagnosed with ‘aggressive’ a few months earlier cancer in the bladder and prostate.
The 76-year-old Irishman previously owned a team in Formula 1 that bore his name, participating in the championship from 1991 until 2005, while, after several changes of name and ownership, he is now “running” on his crown motorsport as Aston Martin.
After the sale of Jordan, Eddie Jordan worked as a commentator for Formula 1 on British television and as the manager of leading designer Adrian Newey, who next year starts … work at Aston Martin, after leaving Red Bull this year.
At the same time, Jordan started a popular podcast, which he co-hosts with veteran Formula 1 driver David Coulthard. In the said podcast, which is called “Formula For Success”, Jordan revealed the details about his health.
“Way back, March-April, I was diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer. And then it spread to the spine and pelvis. So he was quite aggressive. We’ve all heard of our wonderful friend Sir Chris Hoy (aka Britain’s six-time Olympic track cycling gold medalist revealed in October that he has terminal prostate cancer), who is an absolute “mega- star” and he comes out and talks about diseases and things similar to what I have. He’s a much younger man,” Jordan said, among other things, and continued:
“But this is a little message for all presenters and everyone listening, don’t waste time or put it off, go and get tested. Because in life you have opportunities and there is so much medical advice out there and so many things you can do to extend your life. Go and do it. Don’t be stupid, don’t be shy. It’s not something to be ashamed of. Take care of your body, guys.” In conclusion, he underlined that he spent “some very dark days in there, but we got out of it, luckily”.
It’s worth noting that Coulthard wanted to … tease Jordan, telling him it was a ‘good’ time to remind him he owes him £500, with the Irishman replying to ‘DC’: ‘I think it’s better to wait until die, you’ll have a better chance of getting them!’
