ΤΑΤΙΑΝΑ ΜΠΟΛΑΡΗ / EUROKINISSI
Three weeks before Easter its prices lambrange from 9 to 12 euros per kilo, while the kid is sold from 12 to 13 euros per kilo with breeders warning of further increases, considering that the price can reach 14-15 euros per kilo.
At the same time, consumers are launching their Easter markets, and according to a report by ERTNEWS, shopkeepers are cautious about the final price formation as recent livestock losses due to plague and blessing have reduced lamb and kids’ supply.
Another factor that can increase prices this year is the highly increased demand from abroad, as the Catholic and Orthodox Easter coincide with calendar, leading to greater export of lambs.
It should be noted that the “Easter basket”, which will be implemented in a week and includes basic products for the festive table, such as lamb and goats, is expected to play an important role in shaping prices.
