A message of support to the women of Afghanistan and a clear position in favor of the protection of human rights was addressed by the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Domna Michaelidouduring its intervention – through a teleconference – at the parallel event of the 59th UN Human Rights Council (HRC59) held today in Geneva.

The minister, in her placement, referred to the gloomy reality experienced by women and girls in Afghanistan, pointing out that reliable UN sources document an institutionalized regime of gender -based oppression and apartheid.

As he pointed out: “An institutionalized system of discrimination, separation and exclusion of women and girls has deleted any concept of autonomy and personal will under the guise of morality and tool of religion.”
