Appeal Administrative Examination (SAD) was ordered by order of the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Domas Michaelidouin the context of checking in the Chronic Disease Clinic, after the first findings revealed signs of abuse of public money.
“The welfare state is based on the confidence of the citizens and the integrity of those who serve it. The fact that the person involved worked in a welfare structure makes the act even more serious. Our structures are not neutral bodies, they are symbols of social responsibility. Every shadow within them is an insult to the citizens and the officials who honor them, “said Domna Michaelidou.
The State Accounting Office, from Monday, May 5, is conducting a thorough on -the -spot financial control in the structure. According to the findings so far, an employee of the clinic is said to have been involved in a systematic abuse of public resources, with the amount exceeding 250,000 euros.
The employee has admitted in writing his act for the period from April 2023 to the present. However, data so far shows that the act has been systematically done since December 2016. The research is in full swing and the possibility of involvement of other persons, as well as illegal actions in an earlier time, is being considered.
The employee has already been paused by his duties and the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family has taken all necessary steps to ensure complete transparency and take the necessary legal and disciplinary action. Cooperation with the competent audit and judicial authorities is continuing with the aim of fully clarifying the case.
“We are not going to allow anyone to tarnish the face of public care. Our position is unmoved. Zero tolerance in any form of corruption. Respect for public money is not a technical issue, it is a matter of culture and justice. The research will reach the end and will follow all the consequences. Anyone who has violated his duty will be held accountable, “the minister said.
