An immigrant lost his life and about 20 still ignored after sinking vessel on the off of its shores Dominican in the Caribbean, while authorities announced on Friday (11.07.2025) another 17 were rescued.
The boat carried about 40 people, according to the Dominican Republic’s political defense authority, and was destined for Puerto Rico.
The Navy of the Caribbean state said it rescued 10 Dominican and 7 citizens of Haiti. Among the survivors was a child.
The so -called “Yola” immigrant boats, such as the one that has faced a problem and sank today, are made of wood or fiberglass and are not in line with security regulations, according to authorities.
