Tomorrow Wednesday, June 11th, the Prime Minister will participate, At the invitation of Ukrainian President Volontimir Zelenski at the 4th Ukraine-Eastern Europe Summitwhich will take place in Odessa.

It is recalled that Mr. Mitsotakis had visited Odessa in March 2024.

The city has a special historical and emotional burden on Greece, as it is one of the most important centers of Greek Diaspora Education and the seat of the Friendly Society, a symbol of historical and cultural bonds. Hence Greece’s intention is to contribute to the reconstruction of Odessa, whose historic center was proclaimed in January 2023 World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The first Ukraine-Eastern Europe Council was held at the initiative of K. Mitsotakis in August 2023 in Athens. It was the first similar meeting at the leaders’ level, involving leaders of the Western Balkans and European Member States of the region.

From Odessa, Mr. Mitsotakis is expected to repeat Greece’s support in Ukraineas well as emphasize the interest of Greece and Greek companies to participate in Ukraine rebuilding projects, especially in the areas of infrastructure and energy.

It is also expected to repeat Greece’s support in the accession perspective of Ukraine (and Moldova) and the Western Balkans, if they meet the conditions and proceed with the required reforms.

The next day, Thursday, June 12th, the Prime Minister will take a bilateral visit to Moldovawhere it is expected to broadcast a message of support in the country’s European perspective, which Greece supports from the outset, as well as a message of willing bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of trade and energy.

In the afternoon of the same day the Prime Minister will visit Swedenwhere he will meet with his Swedish counterpart Ulphris Christrson.

The two prime ministers are expected to discuss issues of bilateral interest, as well as European agenda priority issues, focusing on collective European defense, in view of the NATO summit in The Hague and the June European Council.

It is recalled that his prime minister and Swedish counterpart had met last December at the informal north-south meeting organized by the Finnish prime minister in Lapland with key issues on the agenda of immigration and security. Recently Kyriakos Mitsotakis had met his Swedish counterpart on the sidelines of the EPP meeting in Valencia.

The Prime Minister will then take part in the Bilderberg Club meeting in Stockholm.
